The perfect sunset doesn’t exist-
Oh, wait it does, and we got to ride up on snowmobiles to capture it. This beautiful couple shares a love for the great outdoors and adventure. Luckily, for them, there is no shortage of either of these things living in Colorado. For this fun and intimate shoot, we took snowmobiles up to the Continental Divide via Cottonwood Pass in Buena Vista, Colorado.
We started our adventure at a trailhead off the pass and explored for about 25 minutes before we arrived at the top of the Continental Divide. Once we got to the top, we hopped off the sleds and warmed up with hot coco and cookies while taking in the views of the Sawatch Mountain Range. The couple also had some time to enjoy each other’s company, while waiting for the sun to set. Once the sky began to fill with gorgeous shades of pink, purple, and orange, we began our shoot. The shoot was super intimate, it felt like we had the whole mountain to ourselves, and we took full advantage of the privacy.
This beautiful couple enjoyed playful kisses and slow dances with the most stunning backdrop. They also shared big laughs, inside jokes, and sweet moments on what felt like the top of the world. And lucky me, I had the pleasure of capturing it all with my camera. The shots were beautiful, the couple’s connection was amazing, the mountain views stunning, and the perfect sunset made for some dreamy photographs.
Now, you might be asking yourself some of these questions…
Do you think this would work for an engagement shoot?
HECK YES, this adventure shoot is the perfect way to surprise your partner with a stunning engagement. Picture this, they think we are just going for adventure at sunset which they are already pumped for, but little do they know that you’ll be dropping to one knee at the top surrounded by exquisite views, making this an experience of a lifetime. And don’t worry if you’re all caught up in the moment as I will be there capturing it all with my camera so you and your partner can enjoy it for years to come. Be warned you may make other couples envious of these photographs as it is magical up there, especially with your perfectly planned engagement.
What about elopements?
If you want your special day to be adventurous, exciting, and intimate then that’s going to be another, HECK YA, from me. You can share your vows among the mountain tops and snow-covered trees. Have your first kiss as a married couple with the most stunning sunset in the background. And if you’re taking my advice, you’ll have one of the most private and beautiful first dances right on top of the Continental Divide.
Is it as cold as it looks?
This is a hard one, it is Colorado, and it is winter but if you come prepared with the right clothes you’ll be able to enjoy the experience regardless of the temperatures outside. Layers are your friend, this way if you’re hot you can strip a few off until you’re comfortable. Remember, your adrenaline will be pumping, so you may start out feeling cold and be hot after you start riding. I suggest sticking to polyester, fleece, and wool when deciding what to grab out of the closet. You will want quality gloves, socks, and if you have them snow boots. Something you will want to avoid is cotton fabric, as this material will keep you wet and cold as it doesn’t have wicking properties. And if all else fails, you have the perfect excuse to snuggle up with your partner!!
Is this for us? We have never been snowmobiling…
The answer is yes! We will be riding on the back of sleds with trained guides who know what they are doing. They take the stress off you and your partner, allowing y’all to focus on making unforgettable memories. Like any adrenaline sport, there is always some risk, but we do everything we can do to minimize that and ensure y’all can safely enjoy this experience!!
Whether you and your partner are looking to bond over a new experience, or you’re looking to surprise them with the sweetest engagement or most stunning spot to elope. I highly recommend you give an adventure snowmobile shoot a shot, please contact me so we can get to planning your special day on the mountain!
